  Rare Replay

I was pretty disheartened by the fact the Xbone was not backwards compatible, but I didn't jump for joy as much as the yanks did when it was revealed.

I did however pre-order this title as soon as it was announced for three games.

The first is an oldy but a goody. Funfright was a game I played on the speccy back in the day. I do not believe it will look great on the Xbone, but I don't give a shit. It'll be fun to have a dabble at it again. Searching round Wild West Towns for an outlaw, whilst stealing horses and then finally getting into a one on one shoot out.

The second game is Conkers Bad Fur Day. This is probably one of my favourite games of all time as the gameplay was varied, the multiplayer fun and it had a giant singing turd called the Great Might Poo (I still know all the words to his song)

and finally, the piece de resistance (for me at lest) Jet Force Gemini. A sci-fi 3rd person adventure/shooter. It was an amazing game and tough too.

So looking forward to this!!

Was surprised I couldn't find a thread for this, looks like it's going to be the "big game" that's become normal to release around E3 this year. I've loved the Rocksteady Batman games and whilst not as good, thought Origins got a bad time of it. This one looks bloody gorgeous, my only concern is that apart from the Batmobile there doesn't look to be too many changes. But then "if it ain't broke" plus everything does seem to be turned up to 11 for what's supposed to be Rocksteady's last crack at the bat. Im very much looking forward to getting stuck into this in a couple of weeks, anyone else? [emoji3]

  XCOM 2

Not confirmed for consoles yet, but surely it will be.

A little confused about this as it's kind of reverse Xcom - I had hoped they would continue the plot from the last one (or maybe they have. This time around, the Aliens have taken over, and Xcom is a resistance movement.

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this one.

  Massive Chalice

So the free game this month is a strategy game similar to X-Com, where you have to wait 300 years for this talking chalice to end the threat... in the meantime you have to make some decisions about what to build/research in your kingdom, which heroes will have offspring, and which areas to defend.

I spent the evening on this, and at first it's a bit confusing to look at, but once you get through that, it's actually a really fun game.

I've just got to a point where the first child that was born in my kingdom has now had his first child. Aww yeah Big Grin

I've seen quite a few of you have played the game on the X1 and am looking for a few honest views of how good it is.

The trailers look amazing but whenever I've tried watching someone on Twitch is looks very fuzzy round the edges.

I am looking for a new BIG game and am considering this or the slightly cheaper D&D NeverWinter. Any opinions?

  Borderlands - The Handsome Collection
Posted by: AdeptusAce - 30-03-2015, 01:00 PM - Forum: Games - Replies (7)

I clocked Borderlands on my own.

It was a grind, but it was mostly fun.

I got a way into Borderlands 2, but it was too much of a grind. And I never even looked at Borderlands Pre-Sequel because I'd already jumped the shark.

So, when this came out, I felt I had to get it. I find Borderlands (in general) to be a more fun version of Destiny. There's a lot more customisation, action, vehicular combat and locations.

Pre-Sequel had been slated from what I remembered, so I decided to start with that... and I don't know whether it was because I've not played Borderlands in a while, but I am having a BLAST with it.

The added oxygen depletion and the low level gravity really make for an interesting game mechanic, but the best thing for me about this is the Gunslinger class. This beauty is unstoppable. I played Borderlands as Brick (Tank) and the 2nd one as a soldier and whilst I enjoyed those, I felt that they needed to complement other players.

The Gunslinger however is pretty much a one man army.

I'm hoping to finish this up then go onto Borderlands 2 with some friends this time around.

For the price, I thought it was a bargain.

  Resident Evil Revelations 2

I'm officially addicted to Raid mode.

It reminds me of MGS: Peace Walker - you're playing bite size chunks and upgrading your character/weapons.

The main game is traditional Res Evil fare with some good co-op mechanics and interesting opponents. At the £4.71 entry point, I thought it'd be worth a shout, and after getting half way through the single player and playing an hour or two on Raid, I picked up the season pass for £15.

Anyone else playing this at the moment, or are you all resident evil'd out?

I never played the first one. I also dont play turn based RPG but, picked this up in the recent XB1 sale.

I am glad I did. I have played my first hour and, am very much still learning but am enjoying the game.

It's really cute, simple to pick up and play and, fun. Looking forward to getting deeper into this Smile

This one had successfully sneaked under my radar, but the concept sold it to me.

It's a Choose your own Adventure/Deck Building/Action game.

You sit opposite "The Dealer" (see. Dungeon Master) who is the main boss of the game, but to get to him, you first have to defeat his 12 guardians.

He places several cards face down on the table, and you move an avatar (not the blue Cameron one) over these cards. The cards themselves will either reveal a multiple choice choose your own adventure style story where you have to pick an option and hope for success on drawing a success card or a combat/action level where you have to beat monsters or get past traps.

Each time you move your avatar, you lose 1 food. If you run out of food, each time you move it reduces your hp by 10. So you have to plan out where you're going to move strategically or you could end up dying or facing a guardian with low health

The combat in the game is pretty straight forward, press x to attack, y to block/parry. but gets harder as you progress through the different guardians.

When you beat certain cards/guardians, you get tokens, which in turn unlock new cards/guardians. Then at the beginning of your next game you can customise what encounters/items you will come across.

There's also an endless mode, where you are playing for a highscore.

If it's got retro(y) graphics and is on xbox live... chances are I'll pick it up.

This is a Prison Escape simulation with crafting mechanics and from what I've played so far, it's pretty enjoyable stuff.

You basically have to plan your escape out of the prison whilst adhering to your prison schedule (roll call, dinner, recreation, etc)

There's a very brief tutorial, and then you're thrust into the prison life and left to fend for yourself.

The first day,I just spent the time getting used to the routine and familiarising myself with the layout of the prison. The job I have, helps immensely as I'm on laundry duty, which means I have access to guards clothes...

Now I've just got to figure out the rest of my plan... Smile
